Our members inspire the improvement of patient safety in many ways. Members can:
Participate in conferences on patient safety as keynote speakers, panel members, or poster presenters
This involves talking about Patients for Patient Safety Canada (PFPSC) and its role in the system as well as sharing personal experiences and the lessons that can be drawn to improve safety.
Participate in steering groups, task forces, and working committees
Organizations are often looking for patient representatives who are comfortable working in a group setting with other health professionals, administrators, and government officials. PFPSC members have served in groups dealing with disclosure policies, surgical safety, accreditation of healthcare facilities, and safe medication management.
Support research activities through PFPSC’s Research Working Group
Members learn about patient safety research and the research process and their roles and responsibilities in both; inform and educate researchers, healthcare providers, and other patients and families about the benefits of research; and establish trust and good relationships with researchers.
